Register for Atlantic Canada’s Premier Catholic Youth Conference
All participants for Steubenville Atlantic must register with their group. Each group requires a 1:5 ratio of chaperones to youth participants. Each group must register a “Group Leader” Immediately after they register their group. The Group Leader is included as a chaperone for their group. Groups can be as small or as large as your parish or diocese wishes, we try and place groups together in on-campus housing, but due to size some groups may be split up.
Participant Types
-
The Steubenville Youth Conferences serve high school students, those entering grade 9 until those graduating from grade 12 (or Secondary III - CEGEP 1 in Quebec) or who will have just graduated from high school (Graduating 2026 to 2030). To be eligible to attend, teens must have at least completed 8th grade (Secondary II in Quebec).
-
Group Leaders are Faith-filled, dedicated adults who bring teens to a joyful encounter with Jesus Christ in a vibrant Catholic community. The Group Leader is a key chaperone who is responsible for all aspects of planning and implimentation of bringing a group to the Steubenville Atlantic Conference.
-
Group Leaders and chaperones must be 21 years of age or older. There must be at least one chaperone per five youth of the same gender at the conference, at all times. (1 adult male for every 5 boys and 1 adult female for every 5 girls.) Bishops, priests and transitional deacons may not be counted as chaperones for your group. Chaperones may not be shared by separately registered groups attending the conference. All adults attending with groups are required to show compliance with the Responsible Ministry/Safe Environment requirements of their home dioceses. The Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth reserves the right to deny entry to the conference to any group that does not meet the Chaperone requirements.
-
Young adults (Graduated Grade 12 or CEGEP 1 in 2025 or Earlier until their 21st birthday) are invited to attend the conference with your group as Peer Leaders. They may not be chaperones. They are not counted as youth. Peer leaders attend with a group and are expected to take on some leadership roles (at their group leader’s discretion). These roles can include things like leading (or assisting with) a small group, being a bus captain when travelling to and from the conference, helping with paperwork and organization in advance of the conference, etc. The important thing is that peer leaders are not just coming back as youth participants again – this role is intended to help young adults learn new skills and encourage them to step up to leadership in the faith.
